What success looks like in this role:
A technical student who is tied to Unisys for a specific period of time, such as a summer intern or co-op student.
Key Responsibilities
- 1. Applies learned processes, standards, and tools to assigned projects.
- 2. Learns a product, tool, or technical area, relying on technical staff for expertise.
- 3. Participates in various phases of software development (e.g., design, implementation, support, etc.).
- 4. Works independently or as an effective team member.
- 5. Identifies and escalates issues as needed.
- 6. Obtains an overview of requirements in the area of specified tasks.
- 7. Receives and understands projects and task estimates from senior staff.
- 8. Under direction or guidance, performs well-defined tasks of limited scope and duration, such as:
- a. Implement simple functions
- b. Write clear and accurate documentation that supports implementation, problem analysis, and/or problem resolution
- c. Set up and maintain system software development environments
- d. Execute pre-formulated tests
- e. Write and/or review test cases for clarity and accuracy
- f. Implement test cases
- g. Gathers information to support problem analysis and resolution
- h. Troubleshoots simple errors/problems in defined areas of code
- 9. Provides status (written or verbal) of work as required
You will be successful in this role if you have the following
Key Qualifications
- – Student in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program majoring in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline
- – Knowledge of basic software engineering concepts
- – Problem solving skills
- – Familiarity with software development lifecycle concepts ( SDLC )
- – Familiarity with one or more programming languages
- – Ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies
- – Natural curiosity for technology
- – Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment or as an independent contributor
- – Strong written and verbal communication skills
