Job Description:
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the design/development aspects of the database/ETL operations of several critical assessment applications in MIS Tech
- Must be able to work effectively and collaboratively with a team of skilled professionals with a variety of skill sets and build cordial/healthy relationships
- Analyze business and technical requirements to define and design the database/ETL service interfaces required to support the requirements
- Plan, engineer, design, implement, and manage database/ETL services for technologies under consideration
- Collaborate with developers and application leads/architects to deliver solutions based on Moody’s standards and requirements
- Collaborate with application support and development teams to deliver resilient and cost-effective solutions that meet demanding business requirements
- Ensure stability of current architectural solutions and explore opportunities to redesign/rewrite components to make solutions robust, reliable and resilient
- Play key role in retiring some legacy applications/processes by carefully assessing interdependencies and analyzing impact and migrating to modern data platforms in the future
- Lead developers on the team by steering them in a direction that aligns with Moody’s vision for the future from a technology and cultural perspective
- Enabling an environment of continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and teamwork
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering/computer science
- Experience with Linux and also Windows operating platforms is a must
- Strong hands-on experience and background knowledge of database principles and concepts
- Strong experience designing and developing big data solutions with solid knowledge of data modeling, data processing, data warehousing and best practices
- Knowledge of SQL and writing/understanding stored procedures, packages, and as well as PL /SQL programming in general
- 0-3 years hands-on experience with at least one of the following databases: Postgres, Oracle, Teradata, DB2, Sybase, etc.
- Mastery of database performance tuning with clear understanding of indexing, partitioning, SQL plan analysis, optimizers, hints, etc.
- Expertise in Extract-Transform-Load (ETL)/Extract-Load-Transform (ELT) concepts with clear understanding of each phase and also relevant tools/technologies
- Up to 3 years of hands-on experience with ETL tools such as Informatica, Datastage, Talend, etc. and the ability to demonstrate this experience with good examples of designing/developing robust ETL processes
- Strong knowledge of data profiling, data analytics workloads, and also their role in the design/development of data-related processes
- Ability to collaborate with multiple teams involved in end-to-end application development to understand and clearly articulate data pipelines and associated intricacies/dependencies
- Support/guide development teams during analysis, development, review, and testing processes
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) and knowledge of processing data in the cloud using tools/technologies such as Python, Spark, Kafka, Glue, etc. will be an added advantage
- Good communication and as well as interpersonal skills.
