History of Amdocs Ltd.
‘Amdocs Ltd. is one of the world’s leading providers of billing, customer relationship management (CRM) and order management software to the telecommunications industry. The company delivers end-to-end software systems and support services that enable telecommunications carriers to provide billing, ordering and support services to their fixed and mobile customers across multiple platforms and services.
Since the turn of the millennium, Amdocs has also provided outsourcing services, handling billing, customer support and customer relationship management services for many of its top clients. The company is one of the only in its industry in this area, Amdon offers software systems that can manage telephone networks with 20 to 40 million subscribers.
In the late 1990s, Amdocs has made a number of key acquisitions, including International Telecommunications Data Systems (ITDS) of the United States in 1999, Canada’s Solect Technology Group in 2000, and Clarify of Nortel Networks in 2001. The acquisitions have helped the company position itself as a full-service provider of turnkey CRM solutions.

Originally based in Ra’anana, Israel, where it continues to employ most of its research and development operations and nearly half of its 8,600 employees, Amdocs has moved its headquarters to Chesterfield, Missouri. SBC Communications, the parent company of Southwestern Bell, was one of the driving forces behind the company’s creation and remains its largest single shareholder, with a 14 percent shareholding, and also the largest customer. Other prominent customers include Deutsche Telecom, British Telecom, Vodaphone, Bell Canada and Nextel.
