Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with experienced, interdisciplinary Amazonians to conceptualize, design, and launch innovative products and services.
- Design and develop innovative technologies in a large distributed computing environment and contribute to fundamental changes in the industry.
- Create solutions to run predictions on distributed systems, engaging with innovative technologies at incredible scale and speed.
- distributed storage, index, and query systems that are scalable, fault-tolerant, cost-effective, and easy to manage/use.
- Design and code the right solutions, starting from broad problem sets.
- Work in an agile environment to develop high quality software.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field at the time of application
- Familiarity with the syntax of languages such as Java, C/C++, or Python.
- Knowledge of computer science fundamentals such as object-oriented design, algorithm design, data structures, problem solving, and complexity analysis.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous technical internship(s).
- Experience with distributed, multi-tiered systems, algorithms, and relational databases.
- in optimization mathematics, e.g., linear programming and nonlinear optimization.
- Effective formulation of technical challenges and solutions.
- Skill in dealing with ambiguous or indeterminate problems and the ability to think abstractly.

Amazon was originally founded in 1994 by Jeff Bezos as Cadabra, Inc. It was developed as a result of what Bezos called his “Regret Minimization Framework,” a description of his efforts to avoid regrets over late participation in the Internet business boom of the mid-1990s.
Bezos left his position as vice president of D.E. Shaw & Co, a Wall Street investment firm, in 1994 and moved to Seattle to create the business plan for the company, which would initially be called Cadabra but became Amazon in 1995. In the early days of startup and planning, Bezos operated the company from his home on Northeast 28th St in Bellvue, Washington. In September 1994, he bought the domain name relentless.com with a short-lived plan to rename his online retail platform Relentless.
Close confidants, however, advised Bezos that the name might have a negative connotation. Bezos still owns the relentless.com domain, which redirects traffic to Amazon.com’s homepage.
